Dickerson Employee Benefits was founded over 50 years ago by Carl Dickerson, our current Chairman of the Board. We are a family owned company headquartered in our own beautiful building just north of downtown Los Angeles led by Carl and his sons-in-law, Tony Lee – CEO, and Michael Wolff – President and CFO.

Senior Account Executive

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The person in this position will be the primary service contact for an assigned book of business (35 accounts, approximately $800K commission) responsible for the successful implementation and execution of the Service Level Agreement/Scope of Work.

  • Responsible for coordinating the annual renewal and implementing new client launches including carrier involvement, third party administration, communications campaign, employee correspondence, implementing and adhering to a project timeline, communicating requirements to the client and information exchange (file transfers, enrollment systems, etc.).
  • Responsible for routine service, which includes the development and execution of service schedule, participation reporting (if relevant), and coordinating questions/initiatives with the client and carriers.
  • Assist senior account managers to review client needs, recommend suitable approaches and help implement benefit program strategies.
  • Facilitates quarterly client surveys.
  • Coordinates client appreciation services.
  • Reviews agreements and/or documents such as employee booklets, carrier contracts, etc.
  • Responsible for explaining new benefit offerings and communication strategies to clients and their insured.

  • Establish effective working relationships with internal team members and partners, clients and carriers.
  • Demonstrate a “whatever it takes” attitude to ensure client satisfaction and to support key Dickerson Employee Benefit Insurance Services initiatives.
  • Work with internal team members, clients, and carriers to ensure accurate and timely response to all outstanding issues.
  • Work with all clients and partners in a manner that fosters mutual respect and teamwork.
  • Lead account team members by clearly setting and communicating the client renewal strategy for each account assigned in said book of business.
  • Respond to requests from all clients and partners by stated timeframes.
  • Utilize company operating systems and platforms to document client files and to notify client partners and team members.
  • Project a professional image in action and appearance.
  • Consistently be on time for work and all scheduled meetings and training classes.
  • Review emails within 24 hours, client voicemails within 6-8 hours.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience and or work experience.
  • At least 10 years experience in the Employee Benefits industry (brokerage experience desirable).
  • Minimum 7 years Account Management experience required.
  • Demonstrated professional, tactful negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve objectives.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) or similar software applications.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills including preparation and execution.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to develop sound relationships with multiple clients.
  • Ability to interact with vendors effectively.
  • Required insurance licenses or ability to obtain immediately.
  • Good working knowledge of financial arrangements/strategies and products available to clients.
  • Excellent knowledge of ACA regulations and guidelines.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop an awareness of the insurance vendor marketplace, plan designs, health care cost factors, and the renewal process for health and group benefit programs.
  • Collect, analyze and interpret data from vendors/carriers for reporting to the client, including cost projections and evaluation of vendor renewals.
  • Coordinate the Request For Proposal (RFP) process on behalf of a client, including collecting and analyzing responses from carriers
  • Support the practice leader and senior account managers benchmarking by gathering health benefits data and comparing a client’s plan information to other companies by industry or geography.
  • Assist senior account managers to review client needs, recommend suitable approaches and help implement benefit program strategies.
  • Model employee benefits contributions to meet employer objectives.
  • Help write and structure client communications, including proposals, reports, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Attend staff meetings, department and carrier meetings as well as educational workshops.
  • Provide customer support for clients at carrier level and all escalated issues.
  • Thoroughly document all client files.
  • Other assignments as required.

Benefits Analyst

  • Participates occasionally in Open Enrollment meetings or other client service engagements.
  • Assumes other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, math, statistics, economics or accounting.
  • Five years plus experience working with employee benefits.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical and project management skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to self-check work.
  • Strong business acumen paired with intellectual curiosity.
  • Required insurance licenses or ability to obtain immediately.
